A marriage gets the existence with a marriage certificate.
In India marriages are registered under
the Hindu Marriage Act 1955 or the
Special Marriage Act of 1945 failing to register it can make it illicit or
illegal. Now, the government has made the marriage registration mandatory
especially for those who want to apply for name change, passport, visa or any
other legal certification. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has made the
marriage registration process so easy and smoother that you do not require having
any middleman or agent, the only thing required is the complete and accurate
documents.
Eligibility-
·
The age of 18 years
must be completed by the Bride for the marriage.
·
An age of 21 years must be completed by the
Bridegroom at the time of marriage.
Process of Marriage
Registration
Step 1: The
couple needs to submit the application form along with the requisite documents
and a prescribed fee at the registrar’s office.
1.
Residence Proof
(Voter ID, Ration Card, Aadhar Card).
2.
Proof of birth date
of both Husband and Wife (Birth Certificate, 10th Class certificate).
3.
Application form to
be filled and duly signed by both wife and husband. To Download application

4.
Two Passport size
photographs of both husband and wife.
5.
In case if marriage
is solemnized in a temple or any other religious space, priest who soleminised
the marriage is obligatory to issue a declaration certificate of marriage.
6.
One witness not
from the immediate family of both husband and wife.
7.
Two affidavits,
one from wife and one from husband in the standard format which will cost Rs
200.
8.
Copy of divorce/
death certificate in case of divorcee or widow/widower
9.
If available
invitation card of marriage is also advisable.

officer
The application fee for obtaining a marriage registration
certificate is Rs 100.
Step: 2 The
registrar would provide a receipt of the predefined fees. You can check online
for the status of your application or check with the registrar by calling in
his office for a date to collect your certificate.
In most cases the
applicant himself/herself receives the call from the registrar’s office for
collecting the certificate after signing the documents in front of him. You may
get a call in 7-15 days of filling the application.
Step 3: Go to the
registrar’s office along with 2 witnesses whose Ids you have given in the
mentioned documents. Registrar will ask you and witness to sign the
certificate. After signing he will handover you two copies of certificate one
for bride and other for bridegroom.
