How to get passport in 10 days through Aadhaar Card

Yes you heard it right; Aadhaar Card holders can get their passport in just 10 days.

The ministry of external affairs (MEA) has decided to rely on Aadhaar card and National Crime Records Bureau data to check the candidate’s criminal background.

Now the process would not have the element of police verification as it is time consuming.

Similar to the tatkal seva, Aadhaar Card holders will be offered passport in 10 days.

This new format, an applicant would apply online only by attaching his/her Aadhaar card as the sole address and identity proof.

Online process of passport applies with Aadhaar Card:

Step 1- Register at the Passport Seva Portal

Go to the official website of Passport Seva http://www.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink

• If you are a new user, click on “Register Now”.

• Fill the form with the details like date of birth, email id and your passport kendra. Then on your registered email id you will receive your login id to access the portal. Afterwards you will be again redirected to the home page where you are required to fill in your personnel details which will again provide you an e-mail ID login ID.
  
  
  
  
  
  

  

  
  

       

Step 2-  Click on the link which you will receive on your email id to activate your account. Login there with your user name and password. After that click on the Apply for “Fresh/Re-issue of Passport” . 

 

Step 3- If this is your first time to apply for the passport click on ‘Apply for Fresh Passport’ link. Then you are supposed to fill in some general forms. Please fill the forms carefully because if you make any mistake the passport applying process will fail and it takes lot of time and efforts for reapply process.
 

Step 4- Then in the second page fill in your family details and save this and again on the next page fill in your address details; save that too. Afterwards fill in the emergency contact details.  

 

Step 5- Schedule and pay for the appointment

At the 'View Saved/Submitted Applications’ click on Pay and schedule appointments link to fix the appointment time. When you submit your form you are required to submit online fees through internet banking, debit card or credit card. 
 

Step 6- Print application receipt

Once the process is completed take a print out of the application receipt which will have appointment number and application reference number. 
 

Step 7- Visit Passport Seva Kendra

Visit to your designated Passport Seva Kendra with the original documents and within 7-10 days you will receive your passport at home. A duplicate copy can also be availed.
