Now, here comes the trail of linking Aadhaar Card with Jan
Dhan Yojana bank accounts. Banks have been asked to link Jan Dhan Yojana
bank accounts to Aadhaar by our Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The NDA Government has proposed to use Aadhaar as a platform
in order to implement 33 central schemes by NITI Aayog by the direct benefit
transfer. This would be further motivating because as per the government claims
roughly 99.74 percent household have already got coverage.
Previously BJP Government has taken a stand against Aadhaar
on the grounds of lacking approval from Parliament; right to privacy can be
invaded or can be used to legitimize illegal immigration. Now when their own
government has decided to use Aadhaar for the direct benefits transfers in all
the schemes, it should resolve these issues and henceforth come up with a new
legislation for the approval of parliament.
Now with this Government disposition it is necessary to
remove the stay on the Aadhaar Card from Supreme Court in order to avail the
welfare schemes and to bring Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)
under the administrative power of some ministry.
It is advisable if we can put the UIDAI under IT Ministry as
being the governing body of Aadhaar-based identification model who created the
standard model template of attendance system for government employees. Putting both
IT Ministry and Aadhaar under the same roof can synergize the government
actions and planning.
